To celebrate International Women’s Day and National Women’s History month, I want to introduce to you seven women who have dramatically shifted my understanding of and approach to burnout.

These women work across a variety of fields, but each has had such an impact on my life that I’ve come to think of them collectively as my Burnout Fairy Godmothers.

While they may or may not have actual mystic powers, in the story of my life, these women certainly fit into the classic fairy godmother trope: They appeared to me in times of distress with education and support to magically save the day.

These women helped me recognize my burnout cycle for what it was and showed me that I was neither alone in burnout nor entirely responsible for being there. They gave me the tools to not only find my way through it, but to build a strategy to keep me from ever going back.

Each one of these inspiring women has quite literally changed my life, and today especially, I want to celebrate them…
